Welcome to Theravada Vietnamese Buddhist Nun Community
Vietnamese Theravada Buddhist Nun monastery will establish and locate in Houston, Texas or Los Angeles, California (USA). This monastery is a religious corporation, organized under support from Theravada Buddhist Community in the USA, maintains and promotes it for Buddhist purposes. We will carries on the Theravada Buddhist tradition founded in India, and transferred to Sri Lanka, Thailand, Burma, Laos and Cambodia. The Buddhist nuns trained for many years as monastics at Vietnamese monasteries in Vietnam, before moving to the Houston, Texas, where we will established Buddhist nun monastery. The Buddhist nun, who finished four and a half years or more in the Buddhism program at Buddhist University in India, Thailand, Burma, and Sri-Lanka. They will take the next step fulfilling their vision by moving to a rented rural forest property at Buddhist nun monastery in Houston.
Transitioning to this larger property provides a setting for welcoming female aspirants to monastic life and also offers the possibility for interested lay men and women to visit, practice and take part in daily monastic life.
The nuns will have the opportunity to deepen their connections with the local community while creating supportive conditions for a monastic sangha to grow. The Visakha Group Organization long-term vision will to own a property where a permanent rural monastery for bhikkhunis and samaneris can develop and flourish.
